Elwood is a hamlet in the Town of Huntington on Long Island, sometimes called “the Heart of Huntington” for its central location within the town. First settled in the mid-to-late 1800s and originally known as Northern Dix Hills, it’s now a largely residential community served mainly by the Elwood Union Free School District.
